The Internet has increasingly become popular as a means to share video. Multiple sites let you watch your favorite clips; however, most of them do not support direct downloading of their contents. That is why you sometimes need an application like Bigasoft YouTube Downloader to help download streaming video. Despite its name, it supports downloading video from not only YouTube but also other sites such as Facebook, Google Video, Metacafe, eHow, Vimeo, MTV, BBC and Dailymotion.
The program has a nice and intuitive tabbed interface. The first tab lets you create a new download job by simply providing the URL of the page. The application will then apply an algorithm to extract the real URL of the desired video. You can add either a single or multiple URLs. Moreover, you can select a download quality. Fortunately, it supports downloading not just standard-definition videos but HD movies as well. Moreover, it can detect the best resolution available automatically. The other tab shows a list of current download tasks. Luckily, the program supports batch downloading as well as pausing and resuming specific tasks at any time.
When tried, the program let me download the desired videos reasonably fast. Unfortunately, it lacks some features that are available from similar applications. First, it does not integrate with browsers to detect downloadable contents automatically. Second, it does not have a built-in converter.
